Irene “Aunt Rene” Smith, 83, of Oklahoma City went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 9, 2018.

She was born April 16, 1935 in Friendship, WI to the late Walter Fred Kuhn and Margaret (Bergau) Kuhn.

Aunt Rene graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Bob Smith, and remained married for 53 years before his passing. She was a member of Southwest Baptist Church for 20 years. She was employed with Tommy Leonard Construction for many years, and worked for 15 years for Landreth and Associates before retiring in 2012. Aunt Rene loved to work puzzles, cross stitching, scouting, including being a Den Mother and Camp Counselor, and she was the original cook of the family specializing in German cheesecake and potato pancakes. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Aunt Rene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Smith, son-in-law, Larry Booth, sisters, Chris Williams and Dorothy Garcia, and a grandson, Robert Smith III.

Left to Cherish her memory are her children: Robert Smith, Jr, Saundra Booth-Knight (Gerald), Michael Smith, and Katherine Ussery; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jon, Rebecca, Victoria, and Dawn; 4 great-grandchildren; long-time friends, Herman Schultz, Carol Tebow, and Dolly Langston; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 13th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore Funeral & Cremation, 400 SE 19th Street, Moore.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 14th at 10:00 AM at Southwest Baptist Church, 1300 SW 54th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73119 with Brother Jason Gaddis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK.
