James “Allen” Estes

James “Allen” Estes, 64, Norman passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021. Allen was born February 17, 1956 in Blackwell, OK to James Dale and Alice Mae Estes.

Allen grew up in Blackwell. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1974. He also attended PAVT and graduated with an auto mechanics certificate.

Allen married Phyllis Belew in 1975. He worked in the Oil and Natural Gas industry for over 40 years. Allen held a black belt degree. He was the owner of Estes Tae Kwon Do and taught many students throughout the years. Allen loved to fish and spent his childhood fishing at the Chikaskia River in Blackwell.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, James Dale Estes; his son, Adam Estes; and daughter, Beth Pittman.

Allen is survived by his daughter Leah Shirley of Oklahoma City. Mother Alice Estes of Blackwell. Sister Pamela North and husband Mack of Blackwell. Kathy Schmidt of Broken Arrow. Phyllis Estes of Norman. Grandchildren Cade, Cooper, and Kenzie Shirley of Oklahoma City. Allison Hayes of Moore, Gage and Mason Pittman of Newcastle. Phyllis Estes of Norman. Nieces and nephews Kevin North of Ponca City. Kristi Ingram and husband Sean of Piedmont. Nathan and Sarah Brabander.
