Richard Lee Carr

September 2, 1945 ~ March 15, 2020 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, Richard L. Carr, a loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 74.

Richard was born September 2, 1945, in Garnett, KS to Esther (Rowley) and Clyde Carr, the youngest of four children. Family and hometown friends know him as "Dick”. He had a love for animals from an early age, and being raised on a farm, he learned the value of hard work. He graduated from Palmer High School (Colorado Springs, CO) in 1963.

Richard served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war. He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1967 for his timely and courageous actions while engaged in ground operations against an opposing force, which reduced the amount of damage and injuries at their station. He finished out his military service in the reserves at Tinker AFB, and upon retirement, he continued his work on the base as a civilian and later as a contractor.

Richard was a laid-back kind of guy with a soft and generous heart. He enjoyed his food, playing golf, and the occasional nap.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor (Turner) of Moore, OK; daughter, Heather Carr of OKC, OK; son, Brandon Carr and his wife, Abra, of Moore, OK; granddaughters, Makayla and Shelby of Moore, OK; and sister, Joan Knight of Lawrence, KS. Richard also leaves extended family, nieces, nephews, a host of long-time friends, and his beloved poodle, Zoey.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Carr of Broken Arrow, OK; and sister, Marlene Setter of Lawrence, KS.

Visitation will be at Moore Funeral and Cremation on Thursday, March 19, 2020, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service and interment at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020, at Moore Cemetery.
