Robert Lee Bordwine Jr.

Lt. Col. Robert Lee Bordwine, Jr. passed from this life February 22, 2019 at the age of 81. He was born September 25, 1937 in Oklahoma City to the late Robert Lee Bordwine, Sr. and Ruth Inez Bordwine (Booze).
Robert grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Central High School. After high school graduation, he went on to join the Oklahoma Air National Guard where he proudly served his country as an Air Force pilot. Robert married the love of his life, Joan Warren, on June 4, 1960. They were joyfully blessed with 2 daughters and almost 59 years of marriage. Robert retired from the Air National guard on September 23, 1992 after 38 years of dedication and service to his country.
Robert loved sports and camping when his daughters were growing up, but his most recent passion was Model A cars. He spent the last 25 years of his life in the Sooner Model A Club and found great joy in purchasing and refurbishing Model A’s. In addition, he was an avid OU Softball fan and also liked watching his favorite western tv shows and movies.
Robert was a man of faith and loved his Lord. He was active in the local church community and most recently attended Emmaus Baptist Church.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Robert Lee Bordwine, Sr. and Ruth Inez Bordwine; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of more than 58 years, Joan Bordwine; daughters, Terry Teel and her husband Terry of Norman and Connie Gilbert and her husband John of Long Grove, IL; grandchildren, Haley Teel of Norman, Shelby Teel of Norman, Kelsey Gilbert of Georgia and Cade Gilbert of Des Moines, IA. Robert is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.
Visitation is 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2019 at Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 SE 19th St. Moore, OK 73160. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.
